Acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are most commonly used for lower back pain. It is critical to take the medications exactly as indicated to ensure safety. NSAIDs reduce pain and inflammation while acetaminophen only work to reduce the pain.
